Rules
Race, block, outplay.
Dashrift is a two-player race across a 9x9 board. Blue starts at the top and wins by reaching the bottom row.
Red starts at the bottom and wins by reaching the top row. Standard games use a 5+3 chess clock.
- On your turn, move your piece one legal square or place a barricade.
- Barricades block movement lines, but every player must always keep at least one path to the goal.
- Use each special move once per game to create tactical swings.
- If your clock reaches zero, you lose on time.
Special Moves
- Dash: move exactly two squares in a straight line. If you dash into the opponent, you pass through to the square beyond.
- Break: remove one normal barricade. Mega Walls cannot be broken.
- Swap: trade places with the opponent inside the marked radius. Swap has a short lockout so it cannot be instantly mirrored.
- Vanish: hide your position from the opponent for your next movements. Placing walls does not reduce the vanish counter.
- Push: shove the opponent one square away when they are adjacent. Push ignores walls.
- Mega Wall: place one three-segment barricade per game using normal placement rules.
